Registration

Roslyn Swim Team Information www.roslynswimclub.com There will be an information and registration meeting for anyone interested in being a part of the swim team this summer on Wednesday, May 11th at 5pm at Henderson High School. The team is open to all pool members who are 18 years or younger on May 30th. The swim season is short, but very busy, and we expect that members will make a strong commitment to be at practices, meets, and other activities. Roslyn has a strong tradition of sportsmanship and team spirit, and this will be the emphasis of the program. We expect that swimmers and parents will support this, recognizing that missing practices and meets impacts your team. The fee structure for registration is changing slightly this year. For all swimmers who are 7 and older, the registration fee is $95 per swimmer; for children 6 and younger, the fee is $120 per swimmer. (Age is as of May 30th. Also, each family pays for a maximum of 3 swimmers – calculate your fee based on your 3 youngest swimmers.) Last season, we were surprised by the large number of younger swimmers and we felt it was necessary for their safety to hire some extra help for this age group. The anticipated budget was over for last summer due to the hiring of this needed, additional support, and the recent trend leads us to believe projected numbers will remain the same or even increase in the future. The coaches are thrilled there is so much interest, and they want to encourage that interest, but we felt it wouldn’t be fair to distribute the added cost across the whole team. As a non-profit organization, the swim team generally operates close to break even, so these fees are necessary to allow us to operate with the same Roslyn tradition of attempting to provide the best opportunities for all of the participants! Our biggest fundraiser is the concession stand during swim meets, and we ask that each family also pay their concession fee ($15 per family) with the registration. Also, if you’d like to order a silicone cap, include this on the registration form. (If you don’t order a silicone cap, you are provided with a latex cap.) As usual, the registration form asks for your preferences for volunteer assignments. Thanks in advance for your help! TO REGISTER, PLEASE FILL OUT THE ATTACHED FORM AND MAIL IT TO ME WITH YOUR FEES BY MAY 11th. My mailing address is on the form. At our registration meeting in May, we will take orders for team suits BEFORE the meeting with the coaches. There will be try-on suits available for sizing and I will leave the sizing suits at the pool for a week or two after the meeting. If you don’t place your order at the meeting, send me a check made payable to Roslyn Swim Team with the size(s) you need. Orders are due by May 30th. The meet and practice schedules are posted on our website. The practice schedule is the same as last year. Practices will start on June 1st for 12s, 14s and Opens, June 6th for 8s and 10s, June 13th for 6s and Lesson Group (weather pending for the 6s and Lessons). These dates are tentative until we know when WCASD gets out of school. Practices are held Monday through Friday. We use email for communication, so please remember to include your email address on the registration form. Also, there is a note on the next page about posting pictures on our website (www.roslynswimclub.com). If you prefer that photos of your family NOT appear on our website, fill out the form and return it with your registration form. At the registration meeting, the coaching staff will discuss expectations and philosophy, so if you have questions, this is your opportunity. We are all looking forward to another fun and exciting swim season. If you have any questions before the meeting, feel free to contact me. The team is open to all pool members who are 18 years or younger on May 30th. The only official requirement is that swimmers should be able to swim one width of the pool unassisted, but the coaches will assess the little ones to make sure they are ready so this will be an enjoyable experience.
